Islamabad announces traffic plan for 6th Muharram procession

Signal-free mobile command unit introduced for Muharram surveillance in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) have made special traffic plans in anticipation of the 6th Muharram procession to be held in Sector I-9 on Wednesday.

The procession will start from Street No. 22 and end at Imambargah Jafriya in I-9/1, as per an ITP official. For ensuring safety, the service road along I-9/1 will remain closed to all vehicular traffic throughout the event.

Drivers have been asked to take alternative routes, such as IJP Road and Warsak Road near I-9 Markaz, to steer clear of the traffic.

Besides this, Street No. 18 and the service road near Imambargah I-9/1 will also be out of bounds for traffic during the procession.

Citizens are asked to utilize alternate routes like Mangal Bazaar I-9 and the IJP Principal Road to ensure free flow of traffic.

Chief Traffic Officer Captain (R) Zeeshan Haider requested the public not to park their cars illegally along the procession route. He emphasized that only vehicles should be parked at designated points.

He also called for the cooperation of the public with traffic authorities and asked all commuters to obey traffic instructions to maintain order and safety during the religious occasion.
