Islamabad food authority cracks down on illegal donkey meat trade

ISLAMABAD: In a major operation, the Islamabad Food Authority (IFA) recovered over 25 maunds of donkey meat in Tarnol, with a foreign national present at the spot handed over to the police.

The operation was led by Deputy Director Food Authority Dr. Tahira Siddique, who confirmed that the meat was being supplied to various areas, including potentially abroad.

The IFA team destroyed the recovered meat and registered a case against the involved persons. Dr. Tahira Siddique emphasized that the Food Authority is working tirelessly to ensure safe food for the citizens of Islamabad.

This operation comes after a similar incident in Lahore, where donkey meat was also recovered. The IFA is investigating the source and distribution channels of the illegal meat trade.

The IFA’s crackdown on the illegal donkey meat trade is a significant step towards ensuring food safety in the city. The authority’s efforts to investigate and prosecute those involved will help prevent such incidents in the future.
