100 Islamabad schools shifted to solar power

100 Islamabad schools

ISLAMABAD: The federal education authorities have successfully transitioned solarised 100 schools in Islamabad, in a step towards the generation of sustainable energy in the education sector.

The Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training and the National Radio Telecommunication Corporation (NRTC) jointly transitioned the schools to solar power.

The project was started in August 2024 to solarize 100 schools in rural Islamabad.

Under the project, authorities have also installed backup battery systems to ensure uninterrupted power supply.

Federal Secretary of Education, Mohyuddin Wani, stated that this remarkable success reflects our commitment to excellence, sustainability, and innovative solutions.

The installation of solar panels will not only reduce the carbon footprint but also provide a reliable and environmentally friendly energy source for our schools.

Mohiuddin Wani added that while this year’s project covered 100 schools, plans are in place to transition the remaining federal educational institutions to solar power in the next financial year.
