CDA to establish WASA in Islamabad

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) will set up the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) in the federal capital with an aim to up-grade the existing infrastructure.

The establishment of the WASA, in Islamabad aims to greatly enhance the capital’s drainage, sewage, and water supply systems. To begin the work as soon as possible, preparatory negotiations are being held in this regard.

This project would involve improving drainage systems, building and renovating water treatment plants to boost sewage treatment capacity, and expanding and renovating existing systems. Leading development-focused French agency AFD will provide technical support and expertise for the project.

“The WASA Islamabad project underscores CDA’s commitment to providing world-class amenities to the citizens,” Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa said.

He said the initiative will address current challenges and pave the way for a more resilient and sustainable future for Islamabad.
