ISLAMABAD: Senior Judge of the Supreme Court Justice Muneeb Akhtar took oath as Acting Chief Justice on Friday.
The oath-taking ceremony was held at the Supreme Court. Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhel administered the oath to Justice Muneeb Akhtar.
The oath-taking ceremony was attended by the Supreme Court judges, the Attorney General’s Office officers, and senior lawyers.
Justice Muneeb Akhtar will serve as Acting Chief Justice until June 6. Justice Mansoor Ali Shah will serve as Acting Chief Justice from June 6 to June 10.
Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Khan Afridi will return to Pakistan on June 10.
Earlier, the Supreme Court of Pakistan announced summer vacation starting from June 16 to September 8, 2025, according to a notification.
The office of the Supreme Court shall remain functional as per the notification, Moreover, important cases will be heard in holidays by the benches available.
