LAHORE: The cultural capital of Pakistan, Lahore may soon welcome its floating restaurant, located in the scenic area of the Lahore Canal towards Harbanspura.

Sources said the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) might have earmarked a colossal budget of Rs. 350 million for this adventurous initiative.

In case the plans come to fruition, the floating restaurant would not only offer an experience different from dining but also many other attractions, making the canal into an active place of leisure for families and tourists.

This proposed project would entail one, a floating dining boat; two, its cafes and seating areas; and three, play zones for children, for a relaxed and entertaining atmosphere. Likewise, the PHA may also consider developing another off-peak picnic ground, thus enhancing the canal area and providing comprehensive leisure activities.

PHA will design the structure, using the engineering department to give new life to the area, making it attractive for tourists and people alike.

Though the project has not been confirmed yet, the anticipation among the locals for a floating restaurant has started to increase. The inhabitants want it to remain a unique dining experience surrounding the scenic view of the canal.

If the plans come through, this will be a lengthy development in the field of leisure and dining in Lahore and a fantastic new place for people to hang out. The floating restaurant proposed for the trade of Lahore would come as good news and possibly give the city another new lease as an exciting and culturally viable destination.
