LAHORE: The Punjab Wildlife and Parks Department has quarantined 12 recently imported giraffes from South Africa at the Lahore Zoo Safari.
The animals, according to officials, were received on September 9, and they will be under quarantine until October 5 as part of the standard procedure of the department for the importation of wildlife.
The quarantine guarantees that the animals are closely monitored before their placement in permanent enclosures.
Government officials stated that the giraffes have already turned into a huge draw for children and adults alike. After the quarantine period, three giraffes will be relocated to the Lahore Zoo on The Mall, and the rest of nine will remain at the Zoo Safari.
Other Chief Wildlife Ranger Mudassar Hassan also assured that the relocation to Lahore Zoo would be conducted under the supervision of wildlife professionals for the safety and welfare of the animals.
