Electric buses to be operational in Lahore from THIS month: Details inside

Punjab CM Maryam approves 1500 electric buses for Punjab

LAHORE: Electric buses will start rolling out in Lahore in December, as the Punjab Transport Authority has successfully completed the tender process for their purchase.

As per the details, Punjab Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan said that a tender has been awarded to a Chinese and Pakistani company for manufacturing electric buses.

The company will supply 27 electric buses at a cost of Rs 15.5 billion. According to the transport minister, along with the supply of buses, the company will also set up charging stations where the buses will be charged.

According to Bilal Akbar Khan, the buses will come with an eight-year battery warranty and a ten-year warranty for the bus body and other structural components. Additionally, the company will provide free monitoring and maintenance services for the first year.

Electric buses will be introduced on a total of five routes, with the initial phase covering the route from the railway station to Greentown Hamdard Chowk.
