LAHORE: The Lahore police have established a Cyber Squad to prevent aerial firing and weapons display promotion on social media ahead of New Year’s Eve. The special squad will also run an awareness campaign in this regard.
DIG Operations Lahore, Faisal Kamran said that special police teams have also been established for New Year and Christmas celebrations to apprehend individuals involved in aerial firing.
DIG Kamran added that a special action plan has been devised to prevent aerial firing. “Immediate legal action will be taken against those involved in aerial firing, and offenders will face imprisonment,” he said.
According to the police report, 831 individuals involved in aerial firing and displaying weapons have been sent to jail this year so far, and 505 cases have been registered.
“Do not turn your celebrations into mourning. Without public cooperation, it is impossible to stop this heinous act of aerial firing. Citizens are urged to report any criminal activities in their surroundings by calling 15,” the police said.
