NANKANA SAHIB: The district administration in Nankana Sahib has declared a public holiday in connection with the birth anniversary celebrations of Baba Guru Nanak on Wednesday, November 5.
Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Tasleem Akhtar Rao, in an official notification, announced all public and private offices across the district would stay closed to mark the religious occasion.
Earlier, the District Education Authority (DEA) Nankana Sahib had already announced a three-day closure for educational institutions from November 4 to November 6.
It applies to 24 government schools and all the private institutions in Nankana City, including Guru Nanak Higher Secondary School, MC Girls High School, Girls High School, Fatima Jinnah, and various primary schools located in Canada Colony, Purani Abadi, Shaheed Kot, and other areas.
Every year, thousands of Sikh pilgrims from across the world, mainly from India, mark the 556th birth anniversary of the founder of Sikhism by visiting his birthplace in Nankana Sahib.
Consecutive Nights Arrangements regarding security and facilitation have been finalized by the local administration to ensure smooth celebrations throughout the three-day event.
