ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has launched a new mobile application PakID, which aims to further simplify the process of obtaining and updating identity documents for Pakistani citizens.
According to NADRA officials, the PakID mobile app allows users to apply for a new Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) or NICOP (National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis) without the need to visit a registration center.
One of the key features of the app is the facial verification technology, which enables users to verify their identity through a facial scan instead of the traditional fingerprint method. This upgrade significantly increases accessibility, especially for those living abroad or in remote areas.
Citizens holding B-form can also apply for a new identity card through the app. Additionally, users now have the option to make necessary changes to their existing CNICs, such as updating their address, name, or other personal details, all through a simple digital interface.
Another major innovation is the introduction of the dematerialized CNIC, which allows users to securely store a digital version of their CNIC on their mobile devices — providing a paperless and more secure alternative to physical cards.
To download the PakID app, users can scan the QR code available on the official NADRA website or download it directly from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
