ISLAMABAD: United States (US) President Donald Trump on Saturday claimed that India and Pakistan have agreed to a “full and immediate ceasefire,” as both countries launched strikes and counter-strikes last night.
“After a long night of talks mediated by the United States, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a FULL AND IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE,” the US president said in a statement on X.
“Congratulations to both Countries on using Common Sense and Great Intelligence,” he wrote.

Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, while talking with a private news channel, said that the ceasefire has come into effect from 4:30 pm Pakistan Standard Time (PST).
Dar has said that the ceasefire between Pakistan and India was “full-fledged”, not a partial one, and it would apply everywhere, on all military fronts.
Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, in a statement on X, said that both countries have agreed on the stoppage of firing and military action.
Pakistan’s airspace fully restored: PAA
Following the ceasefire between Pakistan and India, the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has fully restored the country’s airspace for all types of flights.
In a statement, the authority said that all airports in the country are available for normal flight operations.
“Passengers are requested to contact the relevant airline for the latest flight schedule.”
US officials engaged with PMs of Pakistan, India
Secretary of State Marco Rubio and US Vice President JD Vance engaged with senior Indian and Pakistani officials, including Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Shehbaz Sharif, the secretary of state said in a statement on X.
US senior officials also engaged with Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Asim Munir, and National Security Advisors of both countries, Ajit Doval and Asim Malik.
“I am pleased to announce the Governments of India and Pakistan have agreed to an immediate ceasefire and to start talks on a broad set of issues at a neutral site,” Rubio wrote.
“We commend Prime Ministers Modi and Sharif on their wisdom, prudence, and statesmanship in choosing the path of peace.”
