BEJING: The Pakistan Navy has achieved a significant milestone with the launch of its second Hangor-class submarine, PNS/M SHUSHUK (Desig), at the Shuangliu Base of Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Group Company Ltd in Wuhan, China.
Vice Chief of the Naval Staff Vice Admiral Ovais Ahmed Bilgrami attended the service and stressed the need of maritime security in the vicinity.
He reconfirmed the Pakistan Navy&’ dedication to preserving national interests and guaranteeing a safe maritime surrounding.
Equipped with air-independent drives, heavyweight torpedoes, and antiship cruise missiles, the second Hangor-class submarine has sophisticated technologies.
These capabilities let the submarine engage targets from great distances and perform antiaccess and area denial missions. The submarine and maintaining regional equilibrium are critical to improving maritime security in Pakistan.
During Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Pakistan, the Government of Pakistan and China Shipbuilding & Offshore International Company Ltd (CSOC) agreed to buy eight Type 054A-class submarines.
Under the Transfer of Technology (ToT) program, four submarines will be built in Pakistan at KS&EW in Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works. With cutting edge sensor technology and weaponry, the submarines will be able to hit targets from long distances.
