KARACHI: Pakistan has decided to further ban its airspace for Indian planes for another month after it was halted amid recent tension between both countries, according to media reports
The decision will be formally announced through a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) to be issued later today.
Pakistan earlier banned Indian airplanes on April 24, and an extension was already issued on May 23, which is set to expire today.
However, the authorities have decided to prolong the ban for another month as both countries have not agreed on any of the existing issues after the Operation Banyaan um Marsoos.
The NOTAM will provide particular information about the current prohibition on Indian air travel, which was first put in place as a result of the two nations’ ongoing hostilities. The restriction aims to ensure the safety and security of Pakistan’s airspace.
All other international planes will still be able to fly via Pakistani airspace, even if Indian aircraft are prohibited.
Due to the shutdown, Indian planes have had to take longer detours due to routing issues.
