Pakistan’s economy created 5.5 million jobs during the past 3 years: PBS

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan created 5.5 million jobs during the past 3 years –on an average 1.84 million jobs a year, which is far higher than yearly average of creation of new jobs during the 2008-18 decade, discloses findings of Labour Force Survey (LFS) released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

However, the Sindh province stayed an exception where the unemployment percentage significantly went low to just 3.9% in three years as the unemployment percentage expanded in all other three provinces –the biggest one recorded at 8.8% in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) during the last FY, according to Labour Force Survey 2020-21.

The national unemployment percentage stood at 6.3% at the end of the last FY, which is better than the preceding year but greater than 5.8% recorded at the end of the PML-N tenure, according to the survey conducted by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics
