LAHORE: A citizen has moved to the Lahore High Court (LHC) seeking the court to halt the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rally scheduled in Lahore on September 21.
The petition, filed by citizen Mirza Wahid Rafique through lawyer Nadeem Sarwar, named the Punjab government, Deputy Commissioner Lahore, PTI leadership, and others as respondents.
The petitioner argued that the PTI leaders had consistently approached the court regarding security concerns but were now planning a rally in Lahore that was contrary to their previous stance.
During PTI’s Sangjani rally on Sept 8, derogatory language was used against the government and judiciary, the petition added.
The petitioner further claimed that the Imran Khan-founded party intended to hold the rally without administrative approval.The petition requested the LHC to stop the PTI from holding a rally without administrative consent and making anti-judiciary speeches.
The PTI has requested the district administration for the permission for a rally on September 21. The PTI leadership in their statements intended to hold a rally even without the permission from local administration.
