Pink Scooter distribution date announced

KARACHI: Sindh Senior Minister for Information, Transport, and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon, on Tuesday, revealed that “Pink Scooters” will be given this week free of cost to women in Karachi to assist their mobility requirements.

Addressing media personnel at the time of his visit to inspect the Yellow Line BRT development work, the minister informed that depots’ construction and associated work were underway, while Senator Taj Haider Bridge was nearing completion and could be finished within a week.

He informed that the government, in collaboration with the World Bank, was designing several transport projects in Karachi. In addition to the Pink Scooter distribution, a fleet of double-decker and electric buses would soon be available in Karachi as well.

Sharjeel Inam Memon further added that in the recent visit of President Asif Ali Zardari to China, there were meetings on the development of bus manufacturing industries in Sindh. He stated that such initiatives would enhance transport facilities and provide job opportunities.

The minister further added that issues like transfers of utilities have caused delays in some projects, but attempts were being made to settle them immediately
