ISLAMABAD: The cabinet division has termianted the Prime Miniter’s Office’s (PMO) official for alleged negilgence into the procurement of tyres for the Prime Minister’s vehicle.
Accoridng to the detials, the concerned department conducted an inquiry and fired Transport Supervisor Ghulam Sadiq on the allegations of procuring tampered tyres for the Prime Minister’s Mercedes Benz.
Reports alleged that car the vehicle’s tyres burst when a Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s relative was traveling from Islamabad to Lahore a few months ago.
The officials of the cabinet division including Muhammad Khalil in connivance with Ghulam Sadiq did not follow the SOPs for the purchase of bulletproof tyres for the VVIP vehicle Mercedes Benz Car.
Inquiry revealed that both officials also managed to favour vendor, Waleed Autos, in getting the supply order. Ghulam Sadiq also never checked whether the vendor could provide VVIP bulletproof tyres or have enough experience dealing with such kinds of tyres.
It is pertinent to note that the government can only use Michelin-manufactured bulletproof tyres for Mercedes-Benz while the sacked official completely ignored such things.
