PTI, JUI-F holds talk to discuss mutual corporation

ISLAMABAD: In a meeting, A delegation from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), led by Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, met with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman to unite opposition parties before crucial parliamentary sessions.

Following the meeting, former National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser stated that PTI and JUI-F agreed to collaborate on specific issues and agendas.

Initially, in the first phase of talk, they aim to block controversial legislation proposed by the government for next week’s parliament sessions.

The meeting aimed to facilitate joint efforts and potentially form an alliance to challenge the government in Parliament. Both parties have established committees to oversee parliamentary affairs and legislative matters.

In addition, PTI spokesperson Raoof Hasan and Shibli Faraz were also part of the meeting. They emphasized the importance of cooperation on key legislation, while JUI-F spokesperson Aslam Ghauri confirmed that consultation will be an ongoing process.

Moreover, Asad Qaiser revealed that PTI and JUI-F have appointed representatives to develop a unified strategy in both the National Assembly and Senate. PTI’s Barrister Gohar and Senator Faraz will work alongside JUI-F’s MNA Ghafoor Haideri and Senator Kamran Murtaza to coordinate efforts in parliament.

This meeting marks a notable shift, as JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman had previously stated he would not join any alliances due to past experiences and decided to do a solo movement against the government while continuing to cooperate with opposition parties on common issues.

Political analysts consider this development significant, indicating a potential new direction in opposition unity. While no final decisions have been made, the formation of committees indicates a willingness to work together and explore collaboration possibilities.
