ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and Member of National Assembly (MNA) Sher Afzal Marwat was released after a brief arrest by the Islamabad police on Thursday.
Following the arrest, Sher Afzal Marwat was shifted to Golra Police Station in the federal capital, however, he was released shortly. Marwat’s arrest was confirmed by his official X account.
Islamabad police spokesperson said that lawmaker Sher Afzal Marwat wasn’t arrested. He was let go after he assured authorities he would not incite unrest.
Marwat’s arrest came after former ruling PTI postponed the public gathering scheduled on August 22 at Islamabad’s Tarnol area.
Earlier today, PTI postponed its planned rally at Islamabad’s Tarnol, now rescheduled for September 8. PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan made the announcement saying that the Islamabad power show has been postponed at the direction of the party founder Imran Khan.
