Punjab CM Maryam distributes over 8.5b loans under Apni Chhat Apna Ghar scheme

Latest update on Apni Chhat Apna Ghar scheme

In a recent development, the CM Punjab  Maryam Nawaz’s Apni Chhat Apna Ghar programme witnessed a historic success after disbursing interest-free loans to more than 9,000 people and with borrowings reaching over Rs8.5 billion.

This wonderful feat was accomplished in just a few months due to the biennial work on the housing project of the Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

The programme has already touched a record response in a matter of weeks with 400,000 applications and documents  uploaded on the Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar portal.

Additionally, five thousand loans have been approved in phase one, and the houses are nearing completion. In phase two, 3,000 loans were also approved, and construction of those is currently underway.

The Punjab government has ensured that the applications are verified by an impartial committee of three microfinance institutions-the applications are reviewed on the Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar portal.

As ordered by the CM, 100,000 houses were to be built in one year, and 500,000 houses within five years. The Apni Chhat Apna Ghar can be accessed through their official website or portal, and a helpline number, 0800-09100, which has been established for the registration of applicants.

Reaffirming commitment to the project, Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz stated, “the state is a mother, and the mother is the most worried about her children sleeping on the streets.” She further asserted that the loans are strictly on merit with no recommendations or favoritism.

The chief minister explained the repayment of loans, stating that those receiving the Rs1.5 million would have to repay just the principal amount over nine years in monthly installments of Rs14,000.

She expressed her happiness in seeing houses coming up under the Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar Programme, saying that it gives her happiness as though it is her own house being built.
