Rawalpindi police terminates 17 personnel over links with drug dealers

Good news announced for police officers

RAWALPINDI: At least 17 police officials have been dismissed from service over involvement in drug dealing and other illegal activities, according to media reports.

An inquiry was initiated under the supervision of a senior Police officer, which disclosed the involvement of the personnel of the force in the drug dealing and their connections with narcotics traffickers.

One Sub Inspector, four assistant Sub Inspectors, four head Constable,s and eight constables were among the dismissed individuals.

Rawalpindi Police has revealed the identities of the officers involved: Sub-Inspector Anwarul Haq, ASIs Imran Khalid, Umar, Nadeem, and Shakoor are among the dismissed officers.

Head constables Zarif, Anis, and Naseer, along with constables Sami and Imtiaz, were also among those removed from service.

However, the action was taken under the accountability mechanism of the police department, said the City Police officer Khalid Hamdani

“This crackdown aligns with directives from the Punjab Chief Minister to eradicate the menace of narcotics from society. Any police personnel found colluding with drug dealers will face strict legal consequences,” he stated.

The CPO added that the public has welcomed the police’s stringent measures against drug trafficking networks.
