RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has established entry bans for Makkah, which will begin on April 13 to prepare for the Hajj season, because only authorized individuals will be allowed to enter the holy city.
The Saudi Ministry of Interior announced that Makkah access will become available only to individuals who possess either a valid Hajj permit, a Makkah iqama, or an authorized work permit for holy sites.
Security personnel will stop and redirect anyone who does not possess these required documents at security checkpoints. The decision is part of the “No Hajj without a permit” policy, which aims to maintain safe and organized Hajj operations for the millions of expected pilgrims.
Authorities have further stated that April 18 (1st Dhul Qada) will mark the final date for foreign Umrah pilgrims to depart the Kingdom. Umrah permits that people obtain through the Nusuk platform will remain inactive between April 18 and May 31.
The updated regulations also prohibit all holders of non-Hajj visas from entering or staying in Makkah during the specified period. Hajj permits are now available to people through the Absher platform and the Muqeem portal.
Officials have urged full compliance with the new regulations, which will lead to law enforcement actions against anyone who breaks the rules, because this measure protects both pilgrims and public order during the Hajj period.
