Shaheen Shah Afridi, wife Ansha welcome first baby boy

KARACHI: Pakistani fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi, who is currently playing the Rawalpindi Test, and his wife Ansha Afridi welcomed their first child, a baby boy, on Saturday.

Social media turned abuzz with warm wishes after Shaheen’s family announced the arrival of his first child, whom they have named, Ali Yar.

Pace ace Afridi received heartfelt congratulations from teammates and fans on social media. With the arrival of Ali Yar, former captain and star allrounder, Shahid Afridi became a grandfather.

As per details, Shaheen Afridi will depart for Karachi after the conclusion of the first Test against Bangladesh on Sunday, to join his family in this memorable moment. He will re-join the Green Shirts squad before the second Test starts on August 30.

During the Rawalpindi Test, Shaheen Afridi after getting news about his newborn, dedicated his wicket to his baby boy with a heartfelt cradle celebration.

‘Well wishes pour in’

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi congratulated and extended well wishes to Afridi on the birth of his son. “May the family be blessed with all the happiness in the world, and may Allah (SWT) continue to shower His blessings on the family,” he wrote on X.

Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem also congratulated Shaheen Shah Afridi on the birth of his precious baby boy.

“And heartfelt congratulations to Shahid Afridi on becoming a grandfather. May Allah bless the little one with health, and happiness. Prayers and best wishes to your family for this beautiful new chapter,” he wrote on X.

Shaheen and Ansha tied the knot in Karachi in September 2023 and their reception was held in Islamabad, which saw the attendance of numerous cricketing stars.

The events were attended by Babar Azam, Shadab Khan, Imam-ul-Haq, and Haris Rauf, who extended their heartfelt wishes to the newlyweds.
