KARACHI: The Sindh government has canceled the Eidul Fitr holiday for transport officials in 2025 to avoid overcharging by transporters during the Eid festive season.
This move aims to ensure that the citizens who use public transport to travel during the Eid festivities travel without experiencing disruptions.
According to Sindh Minister for Transport Sharjeel Inam Memon, citizens should not pay extras for fares charged by transport drivers or companies. Memon explained that the government will take action against transporters who overcharge passengers.
This is important as citizens often file complaints about excess fare charges by transporters during Eidul Fitr and Eidul Adha.
The Sindh Government had previously announced holidays for the transport sector for Eidul Fitr from March 31 to April 2 but now the transportation department has to work on Eid.
