Weather Alert: PMD warns of rising temperatures during Eid-ul-Adha

Met Dept forecasts hot and dry weather across Pakistan

LAHORE: Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a countrywide alert, issuing a warning of a rise in temperatures from June 7 to June 12 due to a high-pressure weather system to will affect vast areas of the country.

According to the advisory, higher Punjab, Islamabad, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are expected to experience 5 to 7 degrees Celsius higher than average, while Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan may witness an increase of 4 to 6 degrees Celsius throughout this time.

The weather system will start strengthening on June 7, and its impacts will reach most areas by June 8, persisting until June 12. Due to this, central and upper Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan are likely to stay much warmer than normal.

The PMD also predicted dust storms and windy conditions over the plains because of the intense heat conditions. People,   particularly children, elderly individuals, and women, have been requested to stay out of the sun, remain indoors at noon  hours, and drink more water to keep themselves hydrated.
