LUDHIANA: A BTS clip from the sets of upcoming Bollywood film Dhurandhar has sparked controversy after viewers spotted a Pakistani flag in the background during a scene featuring Ranveer Singh.
The clip, which was from the ongoing shoot of the film near Ludhiana in Punjab, quickly went viral and was criticised by some Indian social media users.
The teaser of Dhurandhar has already created a stir among fans. As the teaser received a huge positive response, the viral clip from the sets of the film showing the Pakistani national flag has upset a section of Indian netizens.
A social media user said, “Why is there a Pakistani flag there? Who approved it? It’s shameful.” Another user made sarcastic remarks and said that people were boycotting Diljit for working with Pakistani actress Hania Aamir, now where are those critics?”
In response, several others came to the film’s defense, pointing out that since the story is set in Pakistan, the use of relevant visual elements like the flag is necessary for realism. One user said that when Pakistan is depicted in a scene, the flag is part of the setting and not a political statement.
The filmmakers clarified that shooting in Pakistan was not possible due to ongoing tensions and security concerns. Therefore, the village of Kheda in Punjab was used to recreate Pakistani locations for the story.
Dhoandhar stars Ranveer Singh in the lead role alongside Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna, and Arjun Rampal. With its action-packed premise and strong cast, the film is already being touted as one of the most anticipated releases of 2025.
