ICC Women’s World Cup 2025: Pakistan & India to lock horns today

ICC T20 World Cup 2026: Date of Pakistan-India clash revealed

COLOMBO: The cricket rivalry between Pakistan and India will take centre stage today as the two teams go head-to-head in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

However, the high-stakes contest faces an added challenge – persistent rain that could affect the game. According to the weather forecast, there is a possibility of rain before the match, with intermittent showers expected to continue throughout the day.

The Pakistan women’s team had planned a training session on Saturday to improve their preparations for the crucial match, but the session had to be cancelled due to heavy rain in Colombo.

To prepare for the match, the squad conducted an indoor practice session, where the players focused on batting and bowling drills in the nets. The players also completed a physical fitness routine indoors under the supervision of head coach Mohammad Wasim and his coaching team.

India Maintains Dominant Lead in ODI

If history is any indicator, India hold a dominant record over Pakistan in women’s one-day internationals. The two teams have met 11 times in ODIs, with India winning all 11 encounters.

The most recent face-off took place on March 6, 2022, in New Zealand during the last Women’s World Cup, where India triumphed by 107 runs.

Mixed starts for both teams

In their opening matches of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, the two sides experienced contrasting fortunes. Pakistan suffered defeat against Bangladesh, while India began their campaign with a convincing win over Sri Lanka.

This adds extra pressure on Pakistan to bounce back and keep their semifinal hopes alive, while India will aim to maintain momentum and extend their unbeaten streak against their arch-rivals.
