LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has disqualified Zimbabwean cricketer Blessing Mazar-e-Azbani from participating in the next two editions with immediate effect.
According to the details, the decision was made to violate the contract entered into in the PSL. The PCB says that the decision is for failure to honor the commitments agreed upon for the PSL contract.
The PCB added that professional cricket runs based on trust and the assurance of contracts; the said cricketer has ignored the obligations.
Once the necessary conditions, including remuneration and structure, are agreed upon through written correspondence, it becomes an obligation to comply with it; therefore, attempting to deviate from such commitments without a valid reason is a violation of the principles of conflicting obligations and good faith.
The PCB says that the ethical framework will not be compromised, while the two-year ban reflects the seriousness of the violation.
The Zimbabwean cricketer had violated his contract with the PCB, for which legal action was taken. Despite agreeing to represent Islamabad United this season, 29-year-old bowler Mazarbani had signed a contract with the Indian league.
It should be noted that the PCB had also taken legal action against South African cricketer Corbin Bush last year for violating his contract.
Blessing Muzarabani leaves PSL 2026 after IPL deal
Earlier, Zimbabwe fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani withdrew from the Pakistan Super League 2026 after securing a contract in the Indian Premier League with Kolkata Knight Riders.
According to reports, Muzarabani has informed Islamabad United of his decision to leave the tournament, where he had recently been signed as a replacement player.
The development comes shortly after Kolkata Knight Riders confirmed his signing as a replacement for Mustafizur Rahman for the upcoming IPL season. Mustafizur had earlier been released from the franchise on the instructions of the Board of Control for Cricket in India.
Muzarabani was picked by Islamabad United after going unselected in the PSL draft, joining the squad following the departure of West Indies pacer Shamar Joseph.
This marks the second consecutive season where overlapping schedules of the PSL and IPL have led to player withdrawals, highlighting the growing scheduling conflict between the two leagues.
The 29-year-old pacer recently delivered an impressive performance in the 2026 T20 World Cup, claiming 13 wickets and reinforcing his reputation as a dependable T20 bowler.
