Sadia Iqbal became top bowler in ICC T20 ranking

DUBAI: Pakistan’s spinner Sadia Iqbal has regained the number one spot in the International Cricket Council (ICC) ranking on Tuesday.

Hayley Matthews has gained her career best with a second position in the ICC Women’s T20I Batting Rankings.

Matthews surpassed Australia’s Tahlia McGrath and India’s Smriti Mandhana to reclaim second place, which she had last held in December of last year. Matthews led the three-match series with 177 runs, including an undefeated century (100) in the opening game in Canterbury, and was named Player of the Series.

While captain Nat Sciver Brunt is up five spots to ninth after amassing 92 runs and helping her team to a 3-0 series whitewash, former England captain Heather Knight, who contributed 109 runs, including an undefeated 66 in the third match in Chelmsford, has risen seven spots to 17th. Sophia Dunkley is now in 29th position, up eight spots.

England spinner Sophie Ecclestone has dropped from first to fourth place in the bowling rankings after missing the series to recover from an injury and play domestic cricket over the last week.

She has been displaced at the top of the lists by another left-arm spinner, Sadia, with India’s Deepti Sharma and Australia’s Annabel Sutherland in second and third place, respectively.

Sadia temporarily held the number one slot in October of last year at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Dubai, becoming the first player from her country to do so.
