Wasim Akram harassed by fan during Ind vs Aus Test in Perth

Wasim Akram joins Sialkot Stallionz as team president

PERTH: Pakistan cricket legend Wasim Akram was harassed by a fan during the recently concluded first Test match between India and Australia at the Optus Stadium in Perth, Australia.

According to the Daily Mail, the former captain, who is currently in Australia as a commentator for an Indian broadcaster, faced abuse from a fan on the third day of the match.

Akram was leaving the venue and attempting to catch a cab when a fan approached him, who received an autograph from Akram before the match. The confrontation left Wasim Akram visibly upset.

The security personnel immediately intervened to handle the situation and the fan was swiftly taken away from the scene. While the motive behind the harassment remains unclear, officials have confirmed that the abuse was not racially motivated.

In response, Cricket Australia has pledged that security will be enhanced in the remaining matches to prevent similar incidents. The authorities have also allowed commentators to board the vehicles directly from inside the stadium to ensure their safety. They were also given the option to be escorted by cars inside the venue.
