ISLAMABAD: In a move to technological advancement, the Major General (retired) Hafeez-ul-Rehman, Chairman of the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA), said on Saturday that the government has authorized an extension for the virtual private network (VPN) registration deadline.
Users were informed by the PTA chief that, contrary to early plans, VPNs will not be stopped on November 30. According to him, “VPNs will not be blocked today,” allaying worries about any interruptions.
However, he stated that “How long VPN registration is extended is a matter for the interior ministry” and did not provide a new registration deadline.
This delay comes after Wispap asked the interior ministry to “facilitate compliance” by extending the deadline.
