ISLAMABAD: WhatsApp is experimenting with a new feature that brings a voicemail-style experience to its calling system. The update, currently available in beta version 2.25.23.21 for Android, was spotted by WABetaInfo, as usual.
According to WABetaInfo, users who make a WhatsApp voice call that goes unanswered will now see a “Record Voice Message” option, along with “Recall” and “Cancel” buttons. This option allows the caller to immediately send an audio message to the recipient without leaving the call menu.
The “Record Voice Message” button also appears in the chat window of the contact who missed the call to make it even more seamless. While WhatsApp already allows users to manually send voice messages via the mic icon in chats, this new feature eliminates the extra steps, making the process faster and more intuitive.
This addition is especially useful for situations where you need to leave a quick message for the call recipient.
The feature is currently only available to select beta testers on Android, and there’s no official word yet from WhatsApp or Meta on when (or if) it will roll out to the general public.
