X (Formerly Twitter) faces global outage, users report issues

Twitter introduces new restrictions for unverified users

ISLAMABAD: Many users of X (formerly Twitter) reported an outage on Monday. Downdetector, a platform that tracks online service disruptions, received reports from multiple countries. The outage affected thousands of users in India, the US and the UK.

Many users were unable to use the platform during the outage. When they tried to access X, they saw an error message that said, “Something went wrong, try reloading.” The issue prevented them from posting or viewing content.

The Elon Musk-owned platform has not issued a statement regarding the outage. It is not yet clear what caused the issue. The company has not explained why the service was disrupted in multiple countries at the same time.

Downdetector recorded about 18,000 outage reports from the US, 10,000 from the UK and 2,000 from India. In the US, 57% of users experienced app issues, 34% experienced website issues, and 9% experienced server errors. In the UK, 61% of users had app issues, 34% reported website issues, and 5% experienced server errors.
