Islamabad weather: Heavy rainfall expected in federal capital

Rain forecast for upper Pakistan, heatwave to persist in South

ISLAMABAD: The residents of twin cities Islamabad and Rawalpindi have been enjoying light intermittent rain and pleasant weather for the last few days as the Monsoon season finally begins in the country.

The light thundershowers, which are expected to continue all day long, have provided the much-needed relief to the residents from the scorching heat and dry weather.

Moist currents from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal are penetrating most of Pakistan, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), and a westerly wave is prevailing over most of Pakistan.
These weather phenomena suggest that most of Pakistan will receive widespread monsoon occasioned by wind storms, in the twin cities, Potohar region, upper/central Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, and northeastern/southern Balochistan on Friday night and the following two days. Widespread heavy rains are also likely to occur at isolated places during this time.
