LAHORE: Punjab citizens hit by the heat are expected to find some relief from tonight as the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued alerts of imminent dust storms, heavy winds, and rain in most districts of Punjab
The weather pattern is expected to persist until June 16. Strong winds with rain are expected in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad, Gujrat, Jhelum, and Gujranwala, said the spokesperson.
There are also possibilities of rain in Lahore, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Sargodha, and Mianwali. Southern Punjab, including Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, and Bahawalnagar, is also likely to receive rain.
PDMA DG Irfan Ali Kathia stated that district administrations have been notified on the instructions of the Chief Minister of Punjab. Health, irrigation, local government, communication, and livestock departments have been notified as well.
PDMA has stated that the spell of rain is likely to reduce the intensity of heat and persistent heatwaves. On the other hand, in the plain areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, dusty winds are anticipated. Thunderstorms with rain may hit Chitral, Dir, Swat, Malakand, Mansehra, Shangla, Kohistan, and Abbottabad at night.
On the contrary, the majority of Sindh districts would remain extremely hot and arid, while heat intensity would also persist in the majority of Balochistan.
