Lahore weather forecast: Heavy downpour, thundershowers to continue in city

LAHORE: The residents of Lahore experienced heavy rainfall accompanied by strong and gusty winds in the early morning. PMD forecasted the new monsoon spell to persist for two consecutive days.

The maximum temperature to be observed will range up to 33 degrees Celcius, whereas the minimum temperatures anticipated range between 25 to 27 degrees Celcius.

The humidity level increases up to 70%, the air is moving in the southwest direction at the speed of 31 km/h.

Moreover, currently, there are 50% chance of precipitation while heavy downpour is expected in the late evening hours. Heavy downpours may cause urban flooding in low-lying areas of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Sialkot, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Multan, Nowshera and Peshawar till August 28.

Moreover, the NDMA said heavy rainfall may trigger landslides in hilly areas and floods may also occur in low-lying areas of Gujranwala Division, Lahore Division, Sahiwal Division, Twin Cities, Attock, Murree, Galliyat, Chakwal, Tala Gang, Jhelum, Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, Rahimyar Khan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Layyah, Muzaffargarh, Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Chiniot, Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Khanpur, Sargodha, Mianwali, Khushab, Bhakkar in Punjab, and Malakand Division, Hazara Division, Peshawar Division, Mardan, Swabi, Hangu, Karak, Kohat, Orakzai, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, Kurram, Waziristan Districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa may experience rainfall with a heavy downpour.

The residents are advised to carry umbrellas when going out for longer periods, stay away from old buildings, and be updated with the latest weather forecast.
