ISLAMABAD: The Meteorological Department has issued a heatwave alert between May 7 and 11, warning of a heatwave in the central and southern regions of the country.
According to the Meteorological Department, the temperature is likely to go up to 46 to 50 degrees in various cities of Sindh and Balochistan.
The temperature is expected to go up to 43 to 47 degrees in some plain areas of southern Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The temperature is likely to go up to 39 to 43 degrees in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Mardan, Nowshera, and Peshawar.
The temperature can go up to 43 degrees in various cities of central Punjab, including the Potohar region and Lahore. The temperature is predicted to go up to 35 to 38 degrees Celsius in Karachi.
The Meteorological Department has directed that children, the elderly, and women should take precautionary measures. Do not go out unnecessarily in the heat and use more water. Weak westerly winds are likely to persist in the upper parts of the country from the evening of May 10 to May 13.
Expected Rain Forecast
As of now, the Met Department has not issued any forecast regarding a new rain spell entering Pakistan. However, according to some experts, the early monsoon season will start in June.
