LAHORE: Soon after the storm subsided, rescue officials compiled their figures and released details of the casualties, injuries and other damages caused to Lahore due to Saturday evening’s strong dust storm and light rain.
According to rescue officials, six storm-related incidents were reported in Lahore, including two deaths and six injuries.
Two labourers were injured when the roof of an under-construction house collapsed in Park View City near Chohang. Rescue personnel shifted the injured Naveed (38) and Ramzan (45) to Jinnah Hospital for treatment.
Ali Hassan, 20, was injured after falling from the roof of his house near LDA signal on Raiwind Road during the storm.
A labourer died after falling from the roof of an under-construction house in Jazak City on Multan Road. He has been identified as Zahid (40) and his body has been handed over to the police for medical and legal formalities.
A 16-year-old man was injured after falling from the roof of a house on Barki Road. A 55-year-old woman was injured after a wall of a house collapsed near Indus Hospital on Raiwind Road.
An elderly man died and another was injured after falling from the roof of a house in Chungi Amar Sidhu. The deceased has been identified as 60-year-old Nazir. The injured person, 50-year-old Ramzan, was taken to Lahore General Hospital for treatment.
Several trees were uprooted by the wind in Lahore and its suburbs. Rescue workers removed the fallen trees from the roads and restored traffic.
