Weekend brings significant improvement in Lahore’s AQI index

Lahore weather update:

LAHORE: Thanks to the weekend, Lahore’s air pollution index seems to have improved considerably as the overall air quality index (AQI) recorded is 312.

However, this has improved very little, making Lahore still the second most polluted city in the world. A further analysis of the distribution of AQI levels in the city indicates that Gulberg was the most polluted area at 501, followed by DHA Phase III at 483, and Canal Road at 324.

The worrying situation of the smog led to Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb announcing a health emergency in Lahore and Multan on Friday.

Multan’s AQI was recorded at 208 on the weekend. The health emergency caused by Smog has been threatening as in under a month, nearly 150000 people have been admitted to the hospital in Punjab.

In Lahore, around 7165 people suffered from smog in a week, which emphasizes the need for effective steps to be taken concerning air pollution in the city.
