RAWALPINDI: After almost 9 months of captivity Bushra Bibi, the wife of Imran Khan, has been released from Adiala jail, today on October 24, 2024, after being granted bail by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) in the ongoing Toshakhana-II case.
Earlier, Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb approved Bushra Bibi’s bail, requiring her to submit a surety bond of Rs1 million.
However, her release was initially delayed because the trial court judge wasn’t available to issue the necessary release orders, known as ‘Robkar’ ( Release Orders), on Wednesday.
Following her release, Bushra Bibi headed to her Bani Gala residence, where she received a grand welcome from party leaders and local party members.
Imran khan’s Bushra Bibi has reached Bani Gala after 268 days. never in the history of this country has a woman been disrespected like this. they targeted her in every way just to break her and her husband, but this woman is still standing strong and not giving up. ❤️ pic.twitter.com/6I0j0f5ilj

Background of Toshakhana-II Case
The Toshakhana reference case was filed in August 2022 by Mohsin Shahnawaz Ranjha and other politicians from the coalition government, alleging former prime minister Imran Khan’s failure to disclose information about the gifts from various heads of state deposited in the Toshakhana and report the sales revenue he earned by selling them directly on the market.
Bushra Bibi’s involvement in the Toshakhana-II case stems from allegations that she and her husband, Imran Khan, retained a jewelry set received from the Saudi Crown Prince against an undervalued assessment.
In January 2024, the court convicted and sentenced both Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi to 14 years’ imprisonment and ordered them to pay a fine of approximately 1.5 billion rupees ($5.3 million).
However, the Islamabad High Court suspended their conviction and sentence in April 2024. The release of Bushra Bibi holds significant implications for the ongoing case and Pakistan’s political landscape.
