PESHAWAR: Pakistan’s Ministry of Health has confirmed a fourth case of Monkeypox, this time in Peshawar, bringing the total number of cases to four.
The latest case involves a 47-year-old individual from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa who was isolated on August 29 after showing symptoms. The person had recently traveled from the Gulf countries.
Dr. Mukhtar Bharath, National Coordinator for Health, assured that a robust screening system is in place at all airports, and Pakistan has taken proactive measures to prevent the spread of Monkeypox.
Moreover, he emphasized that the federal capital and provinces are working closely together to ensure timely action.
The Ministry of Health is closely monitoring the situation, and Dr. Bharath stated that the ministry and provincial governments are taking advanced measures to prevent the spread of the virus.
Meanwhile, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) has issued an urgent advisory regarding the Monkeypox outbreak, providing guidance on prevention, detection, and response strategies.
The advisory urges health authorities, healthcare providers, and public health organizations to enhance surveillance, diagnostic capabilities, and preventive measures to curb the spread of Monkeypox.
The public is advised to stay informed, practice good hygiene, and seek medical attention if symptoms develop.
