KARACHI: At least 22 people are trapped in an apartment building as the roofs of three floors of the building collapsed in the densely populated Kharadar area of Karachi.
According to rescue officials, the roofs of three floors of a six-storey residential building collapsed, leaving 22 people from three families trapped inside.
The roofs of the 6th, 5th, and 4th floors collapsed presumably as a result of the construction of the 8th floor of the building, rescue officials said. As soon as the report was received, emergency responders rushed to the scene and started rescue operations with a snorkel to evacuate the trapped people safely.
Rescue operations are being challenged to conduct the rescue work in the Karachi apartment building collapse accident because of the overcrowded location.
Panic has gripped residents, while authorities have given an assurance that all resources available are being utilized to avert any fatalities.
