30,000 Pakistanis added to control list after boat tragedy

Over 27,000 Pakistani deported from gulf countries

ISLAMABAD: Following the tragic boat accidents that claimed the lives of hundreds of young Pakistani individuals, law enforcement agencies have reported to the government that nearly 30,000 Pakistani citizens have been added to the country’s control list.

This list includes thousands of individuals who frequently travel from Pakistan to Dubai and other countries for business purposes.

The report states that action has been taken based on reports provided by embassies of various countries. Thousands of individuals have been included in three different control lists: the Exit Control List (ECL), the Provisional National Identification List (PNIL), and the Blacklist.

When contacted, Director General of Passports, Mustafa Jamal Kazi, confirmed that lists were received secretly from Dubai authorities and those names have also been included. He assured that all individuals added to the control list have been implicated in some kind of criminal activity.

The report further highlights that these measures have caused severe difficulties for Pakistanis traveling abroad, as they are being stopped at airports.
