ISLAMABAD: Chairman Pashtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party (PKMAP) Mahmood Khan Achakzai has offered a dialogue with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the national government.
“I am ready to hold talks with the prime minister on the matter of unity government formation,” he said while addressing a press conference in Islamabad.
“Constitutional crisis, institutional corruption, and political victimisation” is what the veteran politician termed while describing the current situation of the country in talks with media reporters.
Achakzai added that “This is not the time to hurl abuses at each other but to unite for the country’s sake.”
The PKMAP chief condemned what he described as “undermining of democratic values” and the earlier arrests of MNAs of PTI from the Parliament.
Mahmood also criticized the role of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and the judiciary, adding that the general elections 2024 were manipulated in favour of the ruling parties and the electoral symbol of PTI was taken unjustifiably.
“We may have differences with Imran Khan, but the treatment meted out to his party is unjust,” he added.
PTI lawmakers and their families were left waiting outside Adiala jail without being allowed to meet.
Achakzai said political parties have “begged for seats” instead of upholding democratic principles, while talking of the decision of the Supreme Court in the reserved seat case.
