ISLAMABAD: The district administration has announced that offices in Islamabad’s Red Zone will remain closed on April 21, extending the instructions issued earlier in light of strict security arrangements.
According to an official notification, employees of government offices located in the Red Zone will continue to follow the “work from home” policy. The decision comes a day after authorities directed all government ministries, divisions and federal institutions in the Red Zone and the extended Red Zone to adopt remote working.
The administration said the extension has been made in view of preparations for the second round of US-Iran peace talks and the current high security alert. Offices and educational institutions in the Red Zone will remain closed, with officials instructed to continue their duties remotely.
Authorities have completely sealed the Red Zone and its surrounding areas and stopped all types of traffic. Only limited official movement is being allowed, while public, private and heavy transport services including buses and trucks have been suspended until further notice.
Key government facilities, including the Pakistan Secretariat, federal ministries and divisions, have been directed to work from home to minimize congestion on the roads and ease security arrangements.
Officials said the measures are aimed at ensuring comprehensive security during the arrival of foreign delegations and the ongoing peace talks. Citizens have also been advised to avoid unnecessary travel and use alternative routes during the period.
