Multiple injuries, deaths reported in PTI's violent protest

ISLAMABAD: Last night the government launched grand operation and crackdown against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protesters, which PTI termed as brutality, several protestors and security personnel’s received injuries whereas, some received martyrdom due to the fierce tear gas shelling and firing.

According to recent reports, the total tally of the deaths has reached to 14 whereas, the number of injuries is estimated to be around 830 since the PTI November 24 protest in federal capital.

The reports stated that almost 9 protestors and 5 security personnel’s have lost the battle of life in the violent clashes.

Furthermore, approximately 564 security rangers and 266 protestors received severe injuries in the protest. The destruction of private and public vehicles as well as attacks on state on media PTV were also been reported.

According to a report circulating on social media the Federal Government Polyclinic provided the list of 28 injured individuals who received severe injuries due to gunshots where two of them later succumbed to injuries.

However, Last night during a visit to the D-chowk and Jinnah Avenue in Islamabad, Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Atta Ullah Tarar claimed that no firing was carried out on PTI protesters and no fatalities were reported.

Additionally, he clarified that while the protesters were dispersed, there was no state firing involved.

Earlier, the federal government under Article 245, deployed Pakistan army and gave shoot-at-sight orders if the situation escalated and goes out of hand as reported by the state run Radio Pakistan.

Moreover, Pakistan Army had been given orders to deal with the miscreants with an iron hand,” Radio Pakistan stated.

“Clear orders have also been issued to shoot miscreants and troublemakers on sight,” it added.

In contrast, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has claimed only eight deaths till now with the martyred identified as Anis Shehzad Satti, Malik Mubeen Aurangzeb, Abdul Qadir, Malik Safdar Ali, Ahmed Wali, Muhammad Ilyas, and Abdul Rashid.

The protest, led by PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s spouse Bushra Bibi and KP CM Ali Amin Gandapur and PTI supporters, met with forces which lead to violent and destructive protest resulting in several deaths and injuries.
