NAB recovers 'Prizaad house' in Kohistan corruption case

ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has made a breakthrough in the massive Rs.40 billion Kohistan corruption case, recovering billions in public funds and numerous luxury assets.

The investigation uncovered extensive financial misconduct, which involved government officials together with contractors and bank staff members who allegedly stole development money by means of counterfeit contracts and forged documents.

NAB conducted an operation that resulted in the confiscation of more than 100 properties that included residential houses, commercial plazas, farmhouses, and agricultural land located throughout major cities.

The police recovered more than 70 luxury vehicles, together with cash that exceeded Rs1 billion and gold and bank accounts, which they froze.

The authorities confirmed that one of the recovered luxury bungalows belonged to the corruption proceeds, which they used in the popular drama serial Parizaad.

The ongoing investigation will lead to additional arrests and asset recoveries, according to officials, because authorities have intensified their efforts to combat corruption while working to restore stolen public assets.
