OGRA Raises Kerosene Price by Rs 4.92 Per Litre

Crude oil prices fall after reports of Iran-US understanding

ISLAMABAD: OGRA has increased the price of kerosene by Rs 4.92 per liter, as per an official notification.

According to the notification issued by OGRA, after the increase, the new price of kerosene has been fixed at Rs 175.80 per liter. The new prices of kerosene have been implemented from February 1.

The increase in the price of kerosene is likely to further burden consumers living in rural and backward areas of the country, where kerosene is still used for domestic use, lighting and cooking.

It should be remembered that earlier the government had increased the price of diesel by Rs 11.30 per liter, after which the new price of diesel has been fixed at Rs 268.38 per liter.

According to energy experts, the recent increase in the prices of petroleum products may also affect the overall inflation rate, as diesel is widely used in the transport, agriculture and industrial sectors.

Public circles are expressing concern over the repeated hikes in the prices of petroleum products, while the government maintains that the price changes are being driven by global crude oil prices and financial pressures.
