ISLAMABAD: The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) have closed six motorways including Islamabad to Lahore (M-1) and Islamabad to Peshawar (M-2) from November 22 (today).
In a public notice, the motorway police mentioned that due to road maintenance motorways will remain closed starting from 8:00 PM on November 22.
The motorways which will come to a halt include Islamabad to Peshawar (M-1), Islamabad to Lahore (M-2), Lahore to Abdul Hakeem (M-3), Pindi Bhattian to Multan (M-4), Hakla to Yarik (M-14), and Lahore to Sialkot (M-11).
“To avoid inconvenience, please refrain from unnecessary travel,” the notice added.
The development came ahead of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) call for nationwide protests and march towards Islamabad on November 24 against alleged rigging in the February 8 general elections, the detention of party workers, and the contentious 26th Constitutional Amendment.
Former prime minister and party founder Imran Khan has labelled the November 24 protest “do-or-die”.
